It’s the second anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death and today I’ll probably be watching and posting a bunch of Michael Jackson related stuff until I get sick of it.

Am I the only person who notices it when someone who is rebuking a racist idea goes through great pains to explain fully the “logic” behind the idea while making a point to denounce it as racist? Maybe I’m being needlessly cynical or something but it seems to me like the social commentator or whoever I hear doing this at the time is trying to get the racist idea out there because they secretly agree with it, while pointedly distancing themselves from it for fear of being called racist. I just watched a video where some fairly popular liberal commentators on youtube were discussing eugenics in the U.S., and these commentators, while making sure to denounce the idea of eugenics, explain what the eugenics is supposed to achieve, what ethnic and socio-economic groups are being targeted, why the people who did it think it’s a good thing etc. It made me think hmmm - it was almost like they’re tentatively trying to sell the idea without selling the idea from themselves. There has to be a word for that but my vocabulary fails me.

Or maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about… just some of the random things that go on inside my head.
